Biometric Privacy Notice and Consent Release
Notice to Illinois, Texas, Washington, and global users
(Prepared with reference to the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act 740 ILCS 14/, Texas Bus. and Com. Code 503.001, and GDPR Article 9)
1. Purpose of biometric processing
Sanctuary provides an optional automated identity verification mechanism to maintain a secure, verified, female-only sanctuary. If you choose this path, the App captures a short sequence of live camera frames of your face.
2. Biometric data definition and scope
Under applicable law, the automated scanning of your facial image may generate mathematical data regarding your facial landmarks, which may be classified as a "biometric identifier" or "biometric information" (collectively, "Biometric Data").
3. Collection, processing, and non-retention policy
- Ephemeral processing: Your camera frames are encrypted in transit (TLS) and transmitted to AWS Rekognition. AWS evaluates facial landmarks in volatile memory solely to confirm that a live person is present and presents as female.
- Absolute non-storage: Neither Sanctuary nor AWS creates, stores, compiles, or archives a persistent biometric template or facial vector database. No facial scans are written to persistent storage.
- Immediate purge: Biometric Data exists only for the fractions of a second required to generate a binary verification result (passed or failed) and is purged immediately from memory.
4. Prohibition on commercialization
The Sukun Life Ltd will never sell, lease, trade, barter, or profit from any Biometric Data or verification imagery.
5. Written release and consent
By tapping "I Agree and Verify" on the in-app verification screen, you declare:
I have read this Biometric Privacy Notice. I voluntarily, freely, and explicitly consent to The Sukun Life Ltd and its authorized vendor (Amazon Web Services) capturing, processing, and evaluating my facial geometry on an ephemeral basis solely for the purpose of community onboarding verification. I acknowledge that I had the available alternative to undergo manual verification via a live video call without biometric scanning.
